Our UK Data is the Source for Finding Fast Growing Companies

With around 2,500 brands tracked, Consumer Edge’s UK Transaction dataset is the premiere source for finding new investment and partnership opportunities among fast-growing companies.  In today’s Insight Flash, we highlight three different tools to find new opportunities – by the fastest growing subindustries, by company size, and by exposure to a specific UK geography.

In the last 35 days, the fastest spend growth acceleration for UK subindustries has been in Other Home Services and Consignment/Thrift stores.  Both subindustries have seen y/y spend growth accelerate over 50% versus the 35 days prior.  Other Travel businesses have also seen strong acceleration, along with direct-to-consumer spend for tech-focused sectors Home Security/Smart Home and Wearable Electronics.

Consumer Edge provides the unique ability to search for new opportunities by business size.  Over the last 35 days, there have been significant differences in what kinds of businesses are growing in the UK among small, medium, and large companies.  For instance, the top y/y spend growth acceleration over the last 35 days among small brands, which can often be off a very low base, was for fashion brands like Bloomingdale’s and Local Heroes.  Among medium brands, the top acceleration fell to direct sales of Whirlpool and the Mollie payments system.  Among the largest brands we track, the highest spend growth acceleration was in digital entertainment platforms like Bwin and YouTube.

Top Brands by Company Size

Note:  Acceleration in y/y spend growth for the 35 days ending 9/15/22 versus the prior 35-day period; direct-to-consumer spend only; Small brands defined as those with 100-999 observed transactions in our dataset for 35 days ending 9/15/22, Medium brands defined as those with 1,000-9,999 observed transactions in our dataset for 35 days ending 9/15/22, Large brands defined as those with over 10,000 observed transactions in our dataset for 35 days ending 9/15/22. Brand size measurement is based on UK spend only.

Consumer Edge also offers easy ways to dig into which businesses are most exposed to a particular UK region or country.  For instance, if a user thought that the Scottish economy was about to see an uplift, they could look for which brands in the dataset saw the largest percentage of their spend from shoppers living in Scotland.  This will pick up businesses with a heavy concentration of physical locations in the country like Tony Macaroni, but also may highlight that nationwide streaming services like Premier Sports are seeing a local affinity due to their exclusive rights to the Scottish League Cup.
